A Courtyard seperates the kitchen area of the house from the pool yard. The courtyard was designed to evoke a "New Orleans" feel. Brick walls and brick pavers were carefully chosen to feel as though they were original to the house. At the center of the Courtyard is a brick planter with a Crepe Myrtle. During summer the leaves offer a filtered shade and during winter the sun comes through to warm the area. Bulbs and winter annuals are planted around the Crepe Myrtle to bring color into the kitchen area during the winter.
Roses are planted throughout the property. During selection of species careful emphasis was given to disease resistance. Shown here "Sombreuil", a climbing tea rose, shows her white, saucer sized blossoms.
Drip Irrigation lines are available thoughout the Courtyard allowing container plants to thrive through the heat of a Memphis summer. Flexible lines run from the buried pipes to individual containers. Commercially available drip heads control the amount delivered to the individual container. Many professional landscape firms use this equipment. Technical help and spare parts are available in Memphis.
